Qatar Reaffirms Importance of Palestinian Cause and Calls for Ending Occupation

Doha, October 28 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has reaffirmed the central importance of the Palestinian cause, and that it is an issue that affects security and stability on a large scale. It also reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause is an issue of inalienable rights and an international responsibility to ensure these rights and achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting settlement. This came in a statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the UN Security Council, which held a virtual meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.


Qatar Welcomes Constructive Initiatives to Reduce Escalation, Settle Disputes in Gulf Region through Dialogue

New York, October 21 (QNA) - The State of Qatar welcomed the constructive initiatives to find means toward de-scalation and settle differences through dialogue in the Gulf region, stressing the region's strategic importance and its serious endeavor towards resolving crises peacefully, achieving political and security stability and strengthening preventive diplomacy. This came in a statement delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the UN Security Council Meeting on the Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Comprehensive Review of the Situation in the Arabian Gulf Region, convened by Russia which chairs the Council's works for this month led by HE Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.


Qatar Reiterates its Assertion that Israeli Settlements in Occupied Territories are illegal and Obstacle to Peace

New York, October 17 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has reiterated that Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are illegal, in addition to being an obstacle to peace and economic and social development, and threatens the two-state solution. The State of Qatar reaffirmed that Israel's decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the occupied Syrian Arab Golan is null and void and has no international legal effect, and expressed its rejection of illegal practices in Golan, which violate the relevant international resolutions. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar made by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the 4th Committee (Political and Decolonization Committee) of the United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session.


State of Qatar Affirms its Role as Strategic and Effective Partner to Support Least Developed and Developing Countries

New York, October 14 (QNA) - The State of Qatar affirmed its role as a strategic and effective partner in support of the Least developed countries (LDCs), Landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Developing States (PSIDS). In this context, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani announced during the UN Climate Action Summit 2019 that Qatar will contribute $100 million to support least developed countries and small island developing states to address climate change. This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by the Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of Qatar to the United Nations Ahmed bin Saif Al Kuwari before the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the General Assembly at its 75th session on issues relating to groups of countries in special situations.


Qatar Affirms Continued Work with International Community to Confront Digital Piracy

New York / Information Office / October 10 The State of Qatar affirmed that it will continue to work with the international community to confront the digital piracy due to its seriousness and dire effects, and called for strengthening cybersecurity and providing a safe electronic environment. Addressing the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the UN General Assembly at its 75th session, on Item 17 entitled "Information and Communications Technologies for Development", Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ahmed bin Saif Al Kuwari said that the State of Qatar was exposed to a cyber piracy crime in 2017, which was a starting point for imposing an unjust blockade and illegal measures, and presented a flagrant violation of human rights and international law.

New York, October 09 (QNA) - The State of Qatar stressed the importance of work based on the principle of cooperation and partnership to mitigate the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, pointing out that the pandemic did not exclude a country or a region in the world, and pointing to the strenuous efforts it made to deal with its repercussions. This came in a statement made by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during the Second (Economic and Financial) Committee of the United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session to discuss "Building Back Better after COVID-19: ensuring a more equitable global economy, inclusive societies and sustainable recovery".


Qatar Reiterates Rejection, Condemnation of Using Terrorism to Offend States and Fabricate Crises

New York, October 08 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has reiterated its rejection and condemnation of using terrorism as an excuse to offend states and fabricate crises to achieve political goals that are inconsistent with the provisions of international law and constitute a violation of the United Nations Charter. The State of Qatar has also reiterated its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed, and regardless of their motivation, stressing that terrorism constitutes a threat to international peace and security. UN General Assembly Adopts Political Declaration on Commemoration of UN's 75th Anniversary

New York, September 22 (QNA) - The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Political Declaration on the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations at the High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly that took place on Monday. The State of Qatar was the first to deliver its speech at the high-level meeting, represented by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in appreciation of the policy, vision and wisdom of the State of Qatar's leadership, which enjoys balanced relations with the countries of the world, and is based on mutual respect and cooperation to achieve the goals of the United Nations.
