New York, December 18 (QNA) -The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York held a virtual celebration on the occasion of the National Day, with the participation of HE President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly Volkan Bozkr, HE Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, as well as Their Excellencies ambassadors accredited to the United Nations and officials of the United Nations Secretariat.

New York, December 16 (QNA) - The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to grant observer status in the UN General Assembly for the Global Dryland Alliance (GDA), which is based in Doha. The resolution was presented by the State of Qatar and joined by 49 countries, unanimously. The resolution calls on the Global Dryland Alliance to participate in the General Assembly as an observer.

New York, December 15 (QNA) - Organized by the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Generation Amazing, and United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) ), a three-day virtual training course began on Monday on enhancing youth participation in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.

New York, December 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has affirmed its keenness on supporting international efforts to implement youth, peace and security agenda in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015), announcing the hosting of a high-level global conference on comprehensive peace processes, which will be held in Doha on May 29-30, 2021. This came in a statement made by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at a session held in the UN Security Council Arria-formula: "Youth, Peace and Security: Capitalizing on Intergenerational Dialogue to build and sustain peace and enhance social cohesion at community levels."

New York, December 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is proud of its role in the context of international efforts aimed at helping the brothers in Afghanistan to reach the desired peace, by playing a mediating role, with the support of friendly countries, led by the United States. Qatar stressed that its endeavors to support the restoration of security, peace and prosperity in Afghanistan reflects its firm foreign policy, which attaches importance to promoting the settlement of disputes through peaceful means and mediation. New York, December 10 (QNA) - The State of Qatar and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) held the third strategic dialogue via a video conference. Undersecretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov chaired the UNOCT side, while HE Director of the International Cooperation Department and Chairman of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee at the Ministry of Interior chaired the Qatari side. HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, HE Director of Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yousef bin Sultan Laram and President of Qatar International Academy for Security Studies Dr. Majed Al Ansari. The dialogue reviewed the progress made in counter-terrorism cooperation between the UNOCT and the State of Qatar since the last Strategic Dialogue held on Dec.15, 2019.

New York, December 03 (QNA) - The State of Qatar reaffirmed the peaceful settlement of the Palestine cause through negotiations between the two parties on the basis of the agreed references, the resolutions of the international legitimacy, the land for peace principle, the road map and the Arab peace initiative, as well as the achievement of the two-state solution that guarantees establishing a viable Palestinian state on the basis of June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, ending the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan, ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people and fining fair solution for the refugees issue. This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani before the United Nations General Assembly in its 75th session to discuss the Palestinian cause.

New York, December 02 (QNA) - The State of Qatar renewed its commitment to the culture of peace, and warned against fabricating crises and spreading hatred among peoples, indicating that translating the commitment to the "Declaration and Program of Action on a Culture of Peace" entails distancing from policies that undermine the efforts of the international community to promote peace and security. In a statement before the 75th session of the UN General Assembly to discuss the item "Culture of Peace", HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani underlined that fabricating crises and spreading hatred among peoples undermine the efforts of the international community to promote a culture of peace, noting that the violation of the sovereignty of States, the interference in their internal affairs, and the lack of respect for international law and human rights, contradict the international communitys endeavor to spread a culture of peace.

New York, December 02 (QNA) - The United Nations General Assembly adopted at its 75th session a resolution by consensus that considers "Sport: a global accelerator of peace and sustainable development," a resolution that the State of Qatar and the Principality of Monaco presented in their capacity as co-Chairs of the Group of Friends of Sport for Sustainable Development. The resolution was adopted by 95 countries. The General Assembly reaffirmed that sport is an important factor in achieving sustainable development. It recognizes the growing contribution that sport is making to achieving development and peace, given its role in promoting tolerance and respect and its contribution to empowering women, youth, individuals and communities and achieving the desired goals in the areas of physical and mental health, education and social integration.

New York, November 26 (QNA) - The State of Qatar called for condemning the unlawful unilateral coercive measures imposed by the blockading countries and pointed out that the application of unilateral coercive measures targeting the State continues despite the evidence that they are unlawful and the relevant rulings issued by the competent international bodies such as the International Court of Justice. This came in a statement by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani in the UN Security Council's virtual Arria-Formula meeting on 'End Unilateral Coercive Measures Now', which was called for by Russia, China, South Africa, Niger and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
