HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani met with HE Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Jorge Moreira da Silva, at the Permanent Mission's seat in New York.

Her Excellency Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, met with Her Excellency Ms. Vanessa Frazier, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, at the Permanent Mission in New York.

The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its support for the world's least developed countries (LDCs) by taking part in the opening of a United Nations Expert Group Meeting on the Operationalization of the Food Stockholding Mechanism.

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of France, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), organizes a high-level side event on the margins of the 64th session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, entitled “Delivering on the Doha Promise: Promoting Innovative Solutions for Social Development.”

The State of Qatar affirmed its continued efforts with international partners to consolidate security and stability in the region, as well as to continue supporting the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination, ending the occupation, halting the settlement activities, and establishing their fully sovereign and viable independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution principle.

The State of Qatar affirmed the necessity of seizing the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations to renew the collective commitment of Member States to the rule of international law, which constitutes the cornerstone of international peace and security and a fundamental pillar of multilateralism when addressing protracted conflicts and various violations of the United Nations Charter and international law.

The State of Qatar affirmed that effective global leadership for peace requires comprehensive reform of the United Nations system, fully consistent with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, stressing that mediation remains an indispensable pillar for the peaceful resolution of disputes and the prevention of conflict escalation.

The State of Qatar expressed its pride in being among the five largest donor countries contributing to humanitarian aid to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for 2025, with a total exceeding USD 1.528 billion, reflecting the utmost priority Qatar gives to humanitarian response.

HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani participated in the High-level Pledging Event on the Central Emergency Response Fund 2026, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in the presence of HE UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher.
