HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani met with HE Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Betsa Mariana at the Permanent Mission headquarters in New York.

The State of Qatar renewed its unwavering commitment to support the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination, the end of the occupation, the cessation of settlement activities, and the establishment of their truly sovereign and viable independent state, in accordance with the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital.

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations, organized an interactive dialogue for the Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace.

The State of Qatar affirmed that the decades-long Israeli occupation constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions. It also reiterated its welcome of the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice in July 2024, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in Dec. 2024.

The State of Qatar has underlined the indispensable and pivotal role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in meeting the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people. This was emphasized in the New York Declaration issued by the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

Qatar has reiterated its condemnation of the killing of journalists and media workers, calling for their protection under international humanitarian law and relevant UN resolutions to end impunity for such crimes.
