HH the Amir Participates in the Opening Session of the 75th UN General Assembly

HH the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani took part in the opening session of the General Debate of the Seventy-Fifth Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which was held via videoconference from the UN headquarters in New York, with the participation of a number of Their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies leaders of countries and heads of governments and delegations.


Qatar's Permanent Delegation to UN Presents Report of General Assembly's Legal Committee

New York – Information Office – 19 December The Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani, the rapporteur of the Sixth Committee (Legal Committee), has presented the final reports of the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly, in preparation for its approval by the General Assembly. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani, a member of the State's delegation to the 74th session of the General Assembly, was previously elected as the rapporteur of the said committee, in recognition of the important role of the State of Qatar in promoting and respecting international law.

New York 18 December 2019 HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani hosted a reception marking the National Day at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Welcoming the guests was also Consul General of the State of Qatar in New York Nasser Ibrahim Allenqawi. The reception was attended by CEO of Doha Film Institute (DFI) Fatma Al Remaihi HE Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, HE President of the United Nations General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, in addition to members of the diplomatic corps, United Nations officials, media personalities, and Qatari students studying in New York.


Qatar Renews Commitment Making Sport as Instrument to Promote Peace, Dialogue, Reconciliation

Qatar Reiterates Support for Efforts to Resolve Palestinian Cause

Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Integrate People with Disabilities into Sustainable Development

UN Adopts Resolution on Objectives' Implementation of International Year of Family which Qatar Facilitates its Negotiations

New York, November 27 (QNA) - The United Nations General Assembly Third Committee adopted, by consensus, the resolution of the "20th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family and Beyond' to implement the objectives of the International Year of the Family, which Qatar facilitated negotiations about it on behalf of the Group of 77 and China in the United Nations. The Group of 77 expressed special appreciation to the State of Qatar's mission to the United Nations, which over the past years has facilitated consultations on the resolution. Qatar began to introduce the resolution since 2004, after having hosted the Doha International Conference for the Family in that year.


Qatar Reiterates Commitment to Participate in UN Security Council's Reform Negotiations

Qatar Reiterates Commitment to Implement Provisions of Rights of Child's Convention

New York, November 21 (QNA) - The State of Qatar reiterated its commitment to the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, stressing that it gives the issue of child protection, especially the right to education, the highest priority The State of Qatar noted that it collaborates with international partners to reach quality education services for 10 million children around the world through the initiatives launched by Education Above All Foundation (EAA). This came in a statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the UN adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which Qatar was among the first countries to ratify it.
