The State of Qatar has reiterated that the unjust siege that it has been subjected to violates the international law and U.N. Charter, stressing that these unilateral illegal measures have nothing to do with reality and lack evidence and justification.

The State of Qatar renewed its commitment to continue efforts for strengthening the role of women in peace-building and security promotion, and to support initiatives to provide security and justice for women in all circumstances, especially in areas of armed conflict or post-conflict situations.

The State of Qatar stressed that education has positive effects on the development of children on a sound basis away from violence and extremism, expressing belief that it is important to deal with the root causes of violent extremism and associated armed conflicts.

The State of Qatar underlined that the protection and promotion of human rights is a strategic choice, based on its deep belief in the importance of building the society on sound foundations that safeguard human dignity and protect its fundamental freedoms, noting that this is reflected in the provisions and principles of the Constitution and national legislation, which are consistent with international human rights instruments, as well as the establishment of institutions for the promotion of human rights, including the National Human Rights Committee and the Doha Center for Media Freedom.

The State of Qatar reiterated its concern about the danger of terrorist organizations' acquiring of weapons of mass destruction that poses threats to peace and security in the region and the world, especially in light of the tensions and conflicts in many regions of the world, particularly the Middle East.

The State of Qatar has stressed the importance of distancing education from political differences and ensuring that students continue their studies away from any considerations that may affect their continuing studies and ensure their rights based on international conventions, especially human rights.

The State of Qatar stressed its continued commitment and efforts with its partners in the United Nations to uphold the principle of the rule of law at the national and international levels, out of its belief in the importance of this principle which is an essential element of conflict prevention, peacekeeping, conflict resolution and peace-building in the world.

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York held a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting, which was organized under the title "from cyberattack to illegal measures: the blockade against the State of Qatar", coincided with more than three months after the Gulf crisis started, and highlighted the impact of the crisis and its multifaceted repercussions on the countries concerned, the region and the world. The first session, which was moderated by HE Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister for Combating Terrorism Dr Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, reviewed the events that affected the State of Qatar since the cyberattack on Qatar News Agency on May 24 and the publication of false statements attributed to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The State of Qatar has reaffirmed the importance of full implementation of the sustainable development goals as a main and strategic complementary tool to prevent and combat violent extremism, highlighting that this would address several social and economic reasons for violent extremism. HE Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, the foreign minister's special envoy for combating terrorism and mediation in conflict resolution, made the remarks before a seminar organized by the State of Qatar's permanent mission to the United Nations in association with the Center on International Cooperation (CIC), a think tank based at New York University, and Silatech organization on the sidelines of the 72nd U.N. General Assembly under the theme of combating and tackling violent extremism, and the sustainable development goals.
