Qatar Affirms Continuing Its Efforts to Resolve Disputes by Peaceful Means

The State of Qatar has affirmed that nothing will stop it from its approach and policy, which enjoy the support of the international community. and that it will continue to fulfill its legal and moral obligations to help needy people, work with its partners in the international community to meet common challenges and continue its efforts to resolve disputes by Peaceful means, despite the unilateral measures it faces in imposing an illegal land, sea and air siege. This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani before the High-level forum on the culture of peace at United Nations Headquarters today.

Qatar Reiterates its Continued Efforts to Promote Principle of "Responsibility to Protect"

The State of Qatar reiterated that it has continued its efforts to promote the principle of "the responsibility to protect" as a tool for the prevention of atrocities, out of its commitment to the collective security of mankind as a common responsibility of all member states of the United Nations and consistent with its continuing policy and efforts to put an end to serious violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law. The State of Qatar also stressed that it stepped up its efforts as a member of the Group of Friends of the Responsibility to Protect to advance this important principle, appointed a senior government official as a focal point on the responsibility to protect and, in the same context, joined initiatives to restrict the use of the veto right in the face of mass atrocities. Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Cooperate with Various UN Bodies in Combating Terrorism

The State of Qatar has reiterated its cooperation with various United Nations bodies related to the fight against terrorism, including Security Council's Committees, expert teams and the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF), stressing support of their efforts in fulfilling their mandate in order to assist Member States. This came in a speech delivered by the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, HE Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the United Nations General Assembly on "Strengthening the Capacity of the United Nations System to Assist Member States in the Implementation of UN Counter-Terrorism Strategy".

The State of Qatar has reiterates its continued commitment to international peace and security and to continue its international and bilateral efforts to combat terrorism and settle disputes peacefully, despite unilateral measures and blockade. HE Sheikha Alia said that the State of Qatar, faced with unilateral action and blockade by the will of its people and with the firm support of its friends in the region and the world, and on the basis of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of friendly relations among States, It affirms its continued fulfillment of its international obligations to strengthen international peace and security, its efforts to settle disputes through peaceful means and its international and bilateral counter-terrorism efforts.
