New York, February 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar reaffirmed that the unjust blockade imposed on it for more than two and a half years, and the attempt to impose dictates and policies on it are flagrant violation of the principles of equality, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, and contradicts the efforts of the Special Committee aimed at respecting the Charter and international law. This came in a statement made by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the meeting of the Special Committee on the UN Charter and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization at the UN headquarters in New York.

New York, February 14 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has affirmed its active contribution to support legal mechanisms that are in the interest of promotion of transitional justice, prevention and accountability of mass atrocities, and achievement of sustainable peace that would uphold international peace and security. The State of Qatar also affirmed its support for all international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability, preventing conflicts and settling them by peaceful means. That came in Qatar's statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the UN Security Council debate on "Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace: Transitional Justice in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations."

New York, February 05 (QNA) - The United Nations praised the role of the State of Qatar and its support for the launch of the global program to secure major sporting events and to harness sport as a tool to combat terrorism.

New York, December 20 (QNA) - The UN General Assembly adopted Friday the 74th report of the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee), where the State of Qatar is the Vice Chair. The committee examined many topics related to economic growth and development. It also followed up the implementation of the outcomes of international development finance conferences related to agricultural development, food security, globalization, and the use of technology. The committee also discussed issues related to the least-developed countries, in addition to the right of Palestinian people to exercise sovereignty on their land.

New York, December 19 (QNA) - By a majority vote of 187 in favour, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted draft resolution XIX, "United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region", which was previously adopted by the third Committee of the General Assembly at its 74th session, by a majority of 180 votes out of a total of 193 votes. Adopting the resolution, the UN General Assembly recognized that the Centre has made progress in the promotion of human rights and advocacy in the region and will continue to strengthen its effectiveness. It encouraged the Centre's engagement with other United Nations regional offices to strengthen its work and avoid duplication. The UN General Assembly, also expressed its appreciation for the success of the assistance provided by the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, which is based in Doha through capacity building activities in the field of human rights.

New York – Information Office – 19 December The Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani, the rapporteur of the Sixth Committee (Legal Committee), has presented the final reports of the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly, in preparation for its approval by the General Assembly. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani, a member of the State's delegation to the 74th session of the General Assembly, was previously elected as the rapporteur of the said committee, in recognition of the important role of the State of Qatar in promoting and respecting international law.

New York 18 December 2019 HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani hosted a reception marking the National Day at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Welcoming the guests was also Consul General of the State of Qatar in New York Nasser Ibrahim Allenqawi. The reception was attended by CEO of Doha Film Institute (DFI) Fatma Al Remaihi HE Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, HE President of the United Nations General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, in addition to members of the diplomatic corps, United Nations officials, media personalities, and Qatari students studying in New York.

New York - information office - 10 December The State of Qatar renewed its commitment to make sports an instrument for promoting peace, dialogue and reconciliation, stressing that sports are receiving special and distinctive attention and they have the ability to bring about positive social change that enhances peace and development.
