The Permanent Mission of State of Qatar at the UN celebrate The Natinal Day

HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani hosted a reception marking the National Day at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Welcoming the guests was also Consul General of the State of Qatar in New York Nasser Ibrahim Allenqawi.

The reception was attended by CEO of Doha Film Institute (DFI) Fatma Al Remaihi HE Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, HE President of the United Nations General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, in addition to members of the diplomatic corps, United Nations officials, media personalities, and Qatari students studying in New York.

HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani welcomed the guests and reviewed in a speech the achievements of the State of Qatar in development. She highlighted the investment countrys wise leadership made in promoting the rights of women to achieve the sustainable development goals. Her Excellency said that the national day is a very special day for the Qatari people, as the founder of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani united the country. She paid tribute to the men and women who contributed to making what Qatar has become today.

For her part, CEO of Doha Film Institute Fatma Al Remaihi reviewed the efforts of DFI in promoting the culture of cinema, particularly DFIs focus on youth and the role it plays in giving them a voice, as well as encouraging dialogues between different cultures. She also praised the role played by HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums and Reach Out to Asia Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani. Afterwards, a number of short movies produced by DFI were shown, some of which were award winners.
