New York / Information Office / February 22 HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani met with Executive Director of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Catherine Russell. During the meeting, cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the UNICEF were reviewed. HE Sheikha Alya Al-Thani reiterated the State of Qatar's continued support for the work and programs of the Fund in the Arab region and other regions of the world.

New York / Information Office / February 16 The United Nations praised the State of Qatar and its support for the launch of the United Nations Global Network of Experts on the Protection of Vulnerable Targets against Terrorist Attacks. The launch of the network comes within the framework of the UN Global Programme on Countering Terrorist Threats against Vulnerable Targets. This came at the high-level virtual meeting held by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) to launch the Global Network of Experts on the Protection of Vulnerable Targets against Terrorist Attacks, with the participation of nearly 200 senior officials, experts and stakeholders from Member States, international and regional organizations, the private sector, civil society, and academia.

New York - Information Office - February 10 HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, and HE Permanent Representative of Denmark Ambassador Martin Bille Hermann, chaired the first session to facilitate informal consultations on the reform of the UN Security Council, in accordance with the resolutions of the General Assembly calling for the reform of the Council in terms of equitable representation, and the increase in the number of its members, and other issues related to the reform of the Council.

New York - Information Office - February 10 The State of Qatar has renewed its commitment to strengthening the constructive and fruitful partnership with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), expressing aspiration to the 4th High-Level Strategic Dialogue with UNOCT with the participation of the relevant UN entities in Doha in March. This came in a statement made by HE the State of Qatar's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani in the UNOCT Annual Briefing to the Member States on the steady progress of the Office's activities and a review of its ambitious agenda to expand the scope of its programs and assistance.

New York / Information Office / January 19 From its position as an active and pioneering country in the peaceful settlement of conflicts and disputes, the State of Qatar affirmed that women's participation in making, preserving, building and sustaining peace is a vital and prerequisite for the success of these endeavors. ​In New York, the permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations held a ceremony on the occasion of the State's National Day. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of members of the diplomatic corps, heads of international, intellectual, and academic organizations, UN officials, representatives of the media accredited to the international organization in New York, and a group of members of the Arab and Islamic community. The 2021 National Day celebration has acquired a special significance, as it coincides with the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the State of Qatar in various fields, and also coincides with the golden jubilee of the 50th anniversary of the accession of the State of Qatar to the UN and the beginning of the countdown to the launch of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, hosted by Qatar in November 2022, as the first World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world.
