New York, March 22 (QNA) - In the context of their role as facilitators of government consultations to draft the political declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani participated along with HE Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations Fergal Mythen in a discussion on the role of civil society in the Sustainable Development Goals Summit and Summit of the Future. This took place during the Global Futures Forum organized by the Alliance for the United Nations We Need, with the participation of a number of officials and personalities from civil society.

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani stressed that the progress made on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is now at risk of a setback due to the multiple ongoing crises, pointing out that the SDGs were already off track before the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York, February 28 (QNA) - HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani said that the opening session of the Fifth UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC5), which will be held in Doha from March 5 to 9, will see the election of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani as president of the conference.

New York, February 18 (QNA) - The 61st Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD61) chaired by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani concluded.

The State of Qatar has affirmed that the high level of inequality, which was exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, has led to the weakening of social ties and undermined confidence in governments and international institutions.

The State of Qatar is participating in the work of the 61st session of the United Nations (UN) Commission for Social Development (CSocD61), which started Tuesday at the UN's headquarters in New York, and will continue until Feb. 15.
