HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani has hosted a luncheon banquet at the Mission's headquarters in New York in honor of the President-elect for the 71st Session of United Nation General Assembly Peter Thomson.

The State of Qatar has affirmed its keenness to promote peace and understanding through constructive dialogue among civilizations, and to promote the values of tolerance and cooperation among religions and cultures . It noted that it had sought to establish national institutions with a view to spreading the culture of peace, tolerance and the fight against extremism and rejection of violence at the national, regional and international levels.

The State of Qatar has expressed deep concern over abuses suffered by children in the occupied Palestinian territories and Syria, stressing that their suffering will continue if the International Community has not been able to solve this conflict.

Organized by the Permanent Missions of the State of Qatar and Liechtenstein to the United Nations. a meeting was held entitled "First Cracks in the Syrian Impunity Wall: National Prosecutions Underway in the Courts of Third Party States for Serious Crimes committed in Syria" The event aimed at promoting understandings of the judicial developments and their legal underpinnings as well as prospects and challenges that states face in widening these efforts.

Qatar has worked and still works to integrate the issues and needs of the people with disabilities into all state policies and programs and constantly works to follow up on their implementation so as to ensure its commitments to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are carried out.

HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has reiterated Qatar's stance in terms of rejecting all forms of violent extremism, and supporting efforts of the international community to uproot this phenomenon, as well as the state's belief that extremism poses a serious challenge for all societies, with youths and children paying a hefty price for it.

Istanbul/Information Office/23 May 2016/ HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani said issues such as natural disasters in the world, deprivation and displacement, bombing and destruction of cities require collective efforts from all in order to develop sustainable ways to ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance, adding that the images of starving children we see on a daily basis can no longer be tolerated.

The State of Qatar has called on the need to resolve the phenomenon of terrorism in a comprehensive manner in which all international efforts to unite and take into account the roots and causes of this phenomenon, stressing Qatar's firm position in condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its source, location and perpetrators.

New York/Information Office/ 12 May 2016/Qatar affirmed that it has adopted the cooperation policy with all to promote security and peace in the world, support the development process, settle disputes in peaceful means, respect human rights, fight against terrorism and support peoples choices.

Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to its obligations to continue to cooperate to ensure access to the results of a process to combat the drug problem, as well as to continue its efforts on the bilateral and international level and through its membership in the United Nations Commission on Drugs and Crime, to address this dangerous phenomenon.
