Doha / Information Office / March 31 The first Annual Forum of Beneficiaries of Technical Assistance on countering terrorism, which was organized by the State of Qatar and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), concluded Thursday in Doha. The forum, being held for the first time, is an opportunity to bring together beneficiaries, providers, and donors of technical assistance and capacity building in countering terrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism.

Doha / Information Office / March 29 The Fourth High-Level Strategic Dialogue between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), which was held in Doha, discussed strategic priorities and collaboration for effective United Nations support to Member States on counter-terrorism. The dialogue took stock of key achievements and impact of policy, coordination and capacity-building work supported by the State of Qatar, and discussed strategic priorities for the coming year for effective United Nations counter-terrorism support to Member States. The two sides reaffirmed their strong partnership and discussed opportunities for further collaboration. The State of Qatar is the second largest contributor to the United Nations Trust Fund for Counter-Terrorism out of a total 35 other donors.

New York - Information Office - March 24 The State of Qatar has reaffirmed the political solution to the Syrian crisis, and the participation of Syrian women in all peace negotiations, transitional processes and national reconciliation. This came in a speech delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani via videoconferencing in the virtual event organized by the Syrian Feminist Political Movement on justice through feminist perspective, on the sidelines of the 66th session of the United Nations on the Status of Women (CSW), under the auspices of the permanent missions of Qatar, Canada, France, Sweden, UK, Germany, US and Turkey to the United Nations.

New York / Information Office / March 18 The State of Qatar welcomed the adoption of the Doha Program of Action (DPoA) for the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) for the decade 2022-2031 by consensus, considering the DPoA adoption in the first part of the conference an important achievement that would contribute to adding positive momentum to the efforts and preparations for holding the second part of the conference, which the State of Qatar aspires to host from March 5-9, 2023. This came in the statement with which by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani concluded the work of the first part of the LDC5, which was held at the UN headquarters in New York under the chairmanship of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

New York - Information Office - March 17 HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani chaired the opening session of the first part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) which was held Thursday in New York. In a speech before the opening session, His Excellency expressed his gratitude for electing the State of Qatar as president of the LDC5, noting that the State of Qatar is looking forward to hosting the second part of the conference in Doha from March 5-9, 2023.

New York / Information Office / March 16 The State of Qatar has renewed its commitment to provide support for all efforts made to promote a culture of peace, welcoming all measures taken by the United Nations system to encourage a culture of peace and interfaith dialogue, particularly in light of widespread fear, misinformation, growing divisions among societies, and polarization in situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which threaten international peace and security. This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by the Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ahmed bin Saif Al Kuwari before the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on the item of Culture of Peace.

New York - Information Office - March 11 The State of Qatar has affirmed its commitment to the full implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1,325, which stressed the pivotal link between gender equality and international peace and security, calling for the need to intensify efforts for the economic empowerment of women. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar, delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the Ministerial Meeting of the UN Security Council on the occasion of International Women's Day, which was held under the title "Advancing the Women, Peace And Security Agenda Through Partnerships: Women's Economic Inclusion and Participation as A Key to Building Peace."

New York - Information Office - March 11 The State of Qatar has affirmed its support for international efforts to mobilize climate finance to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change and promote climate action, reiterating HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's affirmation that climate change is one of the most serious challenges of the modern era, and His Highness' warning that it could lead to unstable social, economic, and political conditions. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar, delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the UN Security Council Arria-Formula Ministerial Meeting on "Climate Finance for Sustaining Peace and Security."

New York – Information Office – 02 March The State of Qatar urged all parties to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation, and adhere to peaceful and diplomatic means to settle disputes and differences between Russia and Ukraine. The State of Qatar expressed deep concern over the ongoing developments in Ukraine and their humanitarian repercussions, in addition to the dangerous consequences of the accelerating escalation on peace and security. This came in a statement made by HE the State of Qatar's Permanent Representative to the UN Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani in front of the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation in Ukraine.

New York – Information Office – 02 March The State of Qatar pledged the success of the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) and is looking forward to hold the first part of the conference on Mar. 17, 2022 and adopt the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). This came in a statement made by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) after adopting a resolution submitted by the Group of 77 (G77) and China, in which the dates of the LDC5 were set under "Further modalities of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries." According to the decision, the first part of the conference will be held in Doha on Mar. 17, and the second part of the conference will be held in Doha from Mar. 5-9, 2023, at the highest level in the presence of heads of state and government.
