The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, in cooperation with the missions of Canada and the United Kingdom, organized an expanded meeting for HE Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed with the permanent delegates and representatives of the permanent missions of the countries members of the Group of Friends of Afghanistan and the Group of Friends of Women in Afghanistan to provide a briefing on Her Excellency's last visit to Afghanistan.

Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani affirmed that family, as the basic unit of society, receives great attention in the social policies of the State of Qatar at the national, regional and international levels, stressing the importance of family oriented social and economic policies due to their significant contributions to achieving comprehensive, feasible and sustainable social development.

New York, December 18 (QNA)The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and the Consulate General of the State of Qatar in New York, held a ceremony on the occasion of the country's National Day. The ceremony was attended by HE President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (guest of honor) Csaba Korosi , a number of permanent delegates, ambassadors of Member States and senior officials of United Nations bodies. HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, along with HE Consul General of the State of Qatar in New York Mohammed bin Sultan Al Kuwari, received the invitees, who represented a large crowd of diplomatic, political and media personalities.

New York, December 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar called for strengthening multilateral action in order to address current issues and challenges that threaten global peace and security, stressing the need to build a more equal, resilient and sustainable world, within the framework of the central and vanguard role of the United Nations. New York, December 07 (QNA) - HE President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Korosi chose HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani and HE Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations Ambassador Fergal Mythen to facilitate and lead consultations on the Political Declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit during the 77th session of the General Assembly.

The joint organization of this event between the delegations of the State of Qatar and the Principality of Monaco, which is being held for the first time in the history of the United Nations, comes due to their co-chairing of the Group of Friends of Sport concerned with sport and sustainable development.

New York, December 02 (QNA) - The State of Qatar condemned attempts to politicize and racialize football and sports, stressing that it refuses to engage with malicious campaigns, and will continue to adhere to its national and Arab values, and international standards in preventing the politicization and racialization of football in general. New York / Media & Communication Dept./ November 19 The Third Committee on (Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural) of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted by consensus the resolution for the "Preparatory procedures for marking the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family" to implement the objectives of the International Year of the Family, in which the State of Qatar facilitated negotiations, on behalf of the Group of 77 and China to the UN. The Group of 77 and China expressed particular appreciation to the delegation of the State of Qatar, which facilitated over the past years the consultations on the resolution. Qatar began to introduce the resolution in 2004, after having hosted the Doha International Conference on the Family that year and facilitated the negotiations on the resolution since 2005.
