The State of Qatar, represented by the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), deposited the instrument of ratification for a $10 million Contribution Agreement with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) to support the Doha Programme of Action (2023-2031).
The document was deposited in the presence of HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, HE Director General of Qatar Fund for Development Fahad Al Sulaiti, and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for OHRLLS Rabab Fatima.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations stressed that the Contribution Agreement concerning the Doha Programme of Action (2023-2031) reflects the State of Qatar's steadfast commitment to global development and collective action to support the most vulnerable groups, creating lasting change, and leaving no one behind.
For his part, HE QFFD Director General stressed the importance of this partnership with the United Nations, confirming that the contribution embodies Qatar's strong commitment to enhancing global solidarity, sustainable development, and enabling the least developed countries to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.
In turn, HE United Nations Under-Secretary-General explained that this agreement will allow the United Nations Office to intensify its efforts in implementing impactful programs aligned with the priorities of the Doha Programme of Action, noting that the partnership will focus on strengthening institutional capacities and utilizing innovative solutions to address the multiple challenges faced by least developed countries, including poverty eradication, climate change adaptation, and achieving sustainable development.
