Qatar Affirms Solidarity with Victims and Survivors of Terrorism Around the World

New York, June 22 (QNA) - Qatar affirmed its solidarity with the victims and survivors of terrorism around the world, its continued support for victims of terrorism, its gratitude for being a member of the Group of Friends, and its pride in supporting the work of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.

This came in Qatar's statement delivered by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during the side event of the dedication ceremony of the United Nations Victims of Terrorism Solidarity Tree, on the margins of the third United Nations counter-terrorism week in New York.

Her Excellency expressed her gratitude for speaking on the occasion, and stressed that terrorism remains one of the most important challenges that the international community faces.

She said that the global community must explore ways to find lasting and sustainable solutions to end terrorism. No country can act alone, and the UN's Terrorism Solidarity Tree symbolizes joint efforts and bonds, she added.

Her Excellency said that the UN's Terrorism Solidarity Tree provides an opportunity to show solidarity and that rebuilding only happens in togetherness. She stressed that terrorist attacks can cause permanent damage that affects individuals and societies, support must be provided to the victims and survivors.

She affirmed that the support of victims of terrorism and protecting their rights should be at the forefront of the agenda in combating and preventing terrorism. Pointing out that supporting victims, survivors and their families is not just a moral duty, but also helps make societies more resilient and change them for the better.

Her Excellency expressed her joy and honor in participating in this shared gesture and international commitment that aims to build a more peaceful future. (QNA)
