Qatar Demands Security Council to Stop Israel's Illegal Practices

New York/Information Office /27  January 2016/ The State of Qatar has demanded the UN Security Council to compel Israel to respect the provisions of the International Law and the International Humanitarian Law, and to reject all practices and illegal actions carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities, stressing the need to take measures to stop such practices and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
Qatar emphasized that it has spared no effort in achieving peace and stability in the region.
This came in Qatar's statement delivered Tuesday by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani before the official meeting of the UN Security Council on the "Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine Question".
In the fulfillment of its humanitarian commitments, Qatar so far carried out $230 million projects for Gaza's reconstruction, the statement said.
The statement warned of the continuation of the Israeli violations in the Palestinian territories, including the unilateral measures, settlement activities, the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, access restrictions to the holy places in Jerusalem and other violations that are contrary to the UN resolutions and the provisions of the international law.
The statement added that Israel's continued violations without taking into account the consequences of the escalation of tension and the undermining of a peaceful solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict is a worrying issue.
The Security Council will be able to fulfill its responsibility for peace in the Middle East if Israel end its occupation of all Arab territories, Qatar's statement said.
The statement also called on the Security Council to work effectively to achieve tangible progress in the peace process.
